An Appology, a Testimony, and a Prayer Request
May 2nd, 2007 by Site-Admin
I feel the need to apologize to any regular visitors of this site. Particularly for the past week or so, but also for the general posts that I’ve been making for the past two months.
There is certainly nothing wrong about the posts of the last two months, as they are almost all scriptural in nature and are primarily the Psalms that include prayer.
However, I have wished this site to be filled with insights or perspectives from other Christian sources so that we might gain thoughts or elaborations upon the topics of prayer and fasting that may not come immediately by reading our Bibles. Hopefully, all to glorify our Father in better personal fashion.
To this end I’ve not exerted enough effort.
I also feel that I’ve neglected finding and sharing teaching upon fasting during this time as I’ve not posted one for the past two months. I realize that many of you are specifically searching for this topic. Perhaps even most of you are, judging by the searches that bring people here. I apologize especially to you.
Regarding the less regular postings of the past week, I can only say that there are many spiritual things happening in my life and the lives of my family at the moment. Great things! Mostly. The problem with great spiritual blessings is that your faith is often soon tested right afterwards or even in the midst of such blessing.
I was baptized in early 1997 and afterwards an older deacon came up to me to congratulate me, but also to warn me. He said something to the effect that when you do something publicly for God like a baptism, it seems that the devil makes a special effort to come and get you that week.
I didn’t notice such a phenomenon that week, but through the years I’ve noticed that at any time that spiritual things are noticeably moving in the right direction I often fall flat on my face the very next day, if not by that night. I might make some form of godly action that is “superior” to anything that I may have otherwise normally done, or God might have had mercy upon me in one respect or another that is so great that it is obvious that it was Him. THEN, suddenly, temptations to sin or to neglect come to the forefront, and far too often I’ve caved into them.
What’s a man to do but to repent and get on with his life?
There have been many answered prayers for myself and my family since the beginning of 2007. My employment situation, my wife’s employment situation, God’s provision for us when it seemed that we didn’t have enough (yet somehow we always did), spiritual growth for both myself and my wife, opportunities for ministry in both my church and my home, health recovery for my family, and many things that I’m not even remembering at the moment.
Praise God! He is there, He is listening and He is interacting in return.
I’ve much going on this week, but most importantly (to me) is that I’ve been honored with an invitation to return to a church to preach this weekend. This will only be the second time that I’ve done such a thing, and the first was at the same church last year. I would greatly appreciate your prayers on this matter. It is no light thing to have the responsibility of feeding the sheep. My sermon still needs fleshing out and I simply don’t have the time or energy that I would wish to invest into the preparation of it.
I’m not worried, I’ve good things to share, but I need your prayers for a strong finish to the week. Please ask God for His mercy upon me in preparation and in the actual delivery and communication of the sermon. May He give me the insight that I need to teach correctly, and may He prepare the hearts of the congregation to hear.
As things are, I will not be making any more posts until this coming Sunday night, after the sermon is finished. Afterwards, I hope to be a more faithful site-administrator for you.
Thank you for your attention and your prayers. May you in return be blessed of God in the growth of your own faith.

Though there were no comments, I know that there were people praying for me for yesterday. I thank you all for your attention.
Praise God that he is merciful, and our provider.
Things went well.
I physically gained strength through the week, and the sermon developed quickly and naturally. Judging by comments after the sermon, people were (if nothing else) attentive and interested despite any shortcomings I may currently have in my delivery.
Unfortunately, you can never really tell how a sermon affects a person. The sermon was regarding the faithfulness of God, and our own unfaithfulness in comparision to Christ. I pray that God might build faith to put greater trust in God within each of the people present at the time, including myself.
Thank you again. Especially you, Father.
