E.M. Bounds

Edward McKendree Bounds was born on August 15, 1835 in Missouri and died August 24, 1913. He studied to be an attorney, but opted instead to enter the ministry. In 1859 ordained as the pastor of Monticello Methodist Church in Missouri. He became a chaplain in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War and afterwards began weekly prayer sessions in Franklin, Tennessee. He served as the associate editor for The Christian Advocate, and is best known for his books on the topic of prayer.
